Forum Software Change Consideration

So phpBB has been trusty enough for quite a while but it definitely has back-end problems with spam. Due to this, I had to (a long time ago) change registrations to be moderated meaning I have to approve them in an odd way to make sure the spam bots don't have a hay day with the site. This has worked to a point but it's caused problems from an ease-of-use standpoint. Maybe a software change can help fix that.

As such, I was thinking of exploring and possibly switching to Vanilla Forums or Simple Machine Forums. Both are a little newer, I would say SMF is just newer than phpBB and VF is 'current-gen' in terms of forum software.

Since this would be a bit of an undertaking to migrate I wanted to see what people think. I'm good any which way.

For now I'm leaving voting open-ended so we can try to get some votes on this.

Thanks!

In the mean time, I've updated the board to the latest version which also came with a style update. It's a bit quirky and I'm looking at the bugs, in the mean time, it will just have to be on default text and images until I can get it sorted.
